The Southern Triad — Pointing to 2008
Only three states in the nation have statewide officials’ elections this year: Mississippi, Louisiana and Kentucky.
Governor Haley Barbour figures to win big here, and the GOP is counting on that happening. The only open question is how much time, money and attention will the national party commit to see major Republican pick-ups among the other statewide offices and in the critically important legislative races in the House and the Senate? My bet: enough to burn a wet mule.
