Workshops aimed at elected officials
Elected officials can get schooled in community economic development at two workshops tailered just for them.
The Trent Lott National Center at the University of Southern Mississippi, in partnership with the Stennis Institute at Mississippi State University, will host the inaugural workshop, “Basic Community Economic Development: Practical Tools for Elected Officials,” from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 11 on the Hattiesburg campus.
A similar workshop will be held Dec. 18 at MSU’s Hunter Henry Center on the campus in Starkville.
Topics to be covered during the workshop include: physical infrastructure development, downtown revitalization and heritage/cultural preservation, and strategic partnerships.
