Texas quarterbacks starting for five SEC football teams

TUSCALOOSA — At some point Saturday night, Alabama’s Greg McElroy will seek out fellow Texan Nick Stephens of Tennessee to offer a postgame greeting between quarterbacks.
He did the same thing last weekend with Ole Miss’ Jevan Snead and late last month with Georgia’s Matthew Stafford.
“It’s strange,” McElroy said. “It’s seems like every week I’ve got to find somebody after the game and say hello to them and good luck for the rest of the season.”

There’s an invasion going on in college football that has spread to this part of the country. Lone Star State quarterbacks are becoming all the rage, inside and outside the pass-happy Big 12 Conference.

“Taking over the Southeastern Conference, as we like to put it,” McElroy said.
