Targoz Market Research today released a poll that had Republican Tate Reeves up narrowly over Democrat Jim Hood among likely voters in the Mississippi gubernatorial race. Reeves polled at 47%, Hood at 46% and 7% were undecided.
This poll comes on the heels of the Mason Dixon poll released yesterday that showed Reeves +3 over Hood. This was the fourth poll that Mason Dixon had conducted during this cycle and showed that the race had moved 9 points in Reeves direction over the last 20 months.
This is the first released poll for Targoz in Mississippi. They did release their full reports and crosstabs. Notably, their polling sampled women voters at 55% and black voters at 36%, which are both high generally compared to traditional turnout models.
The PollSmart MR online poll was conducted by Targoz Market Research, an independent research company with sample provided by Prodege, a leading market research panel.
Interviews were conducted from October 13, 2019 to October 20, 2019 among a sample of 549 respondents who live in Mississippi and are registered to vote.
The estimated margin of sampling error for registered voters is +/-4.2 at the 95% confidence level.
