Reaction started pouring in immediately in the Mississippi campaign apparatus as President Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh for the vacant Supreme Court seat.

Special #MSSEN Election Race

Most notably, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith used the occasion of the #SCOTUS announcement, which she watched from the White House with other Republican Senators, used the occasion to launch a web ad against one of her opponents, Chris McDaniel.  In the ad, she turns one of McDaniel’s late night Facebook rants where he questioned President Trump’s standing as a constitutional conservative (in 2016) against him.

National publications like WAPO and Politico picked up on the ad.

For his part, McDaniel was clearly excited about the Kavanaugh pick.  However, there’s been no response at this point from the McDaniel camp about the web ad from Hyde-Smith.

Espy has made no public statement or social media post about Kavanaugh as of the writing of this article.

Wicker vs. Baria

Senator Wicker, not surprisingly, was absolute in his support for Trump’s choice.

Baria demured and took a bit more of a cautious attitude.
