Haley Barbour’s lobbying firm representing Toyota
Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour’s (R) lobbying firm is representing Japanese auto manufacturer Toyota’s North American interests.
The firm, BGR Group, is now representing Toyota North America Inc., according to registration documents filed in accordance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995.
Barbour, who is a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, supported the opening of a Toyota plant in Mississippi during his tenure as governor. Foreign automakers have frequently located plants in Southern states because of favorable labor laws.
