Brian Kelly and Notre Dame provide no answers about senseless death of film student Declan Sullivan
This is what Kelly said:
“On Wednesday, I made the decision that we could have a productive and safe practice outdoors – productive because the conditions were such, although windy, were not unlike many days that I had practiced at other universities including here at the University of Notre Dame.”
Coach talking, not parent.
Really, Kelly said nothing, other than to establish some kind of legal position, for himself and his school, since the school now faces a list of possible methods of recovery by the Sullivan family: Wrongful death, improper supervision, premises liability. Declan Sullivan was a part of Brian Kelly’s program. He was a part of the program whether anybody – including athletic director Jack Swarbrick – saw him, really saw him, on that hydraulic lift or not.
