Nunnelee: “Are you better off than you were 22,000 lost jobs and $800 billion ago?”
Sen. Alan Nunnelee framed the last three weeks of the First District Congressional race by asking voters if they approve of Congress’ actions over the last two years.
Senator Alan Nunnelee and Congressman Travis Childers debated in Oxford on Tuesday night, and spent time talking about the most important issue to North Mississippians in this election: jobs.
“Look at the track record of this Congress. They spent $800 billion of your money and claimed they had to add that cost to the debt to keep unemployment below 8%. Today unemployment in North Mississippi is over 12%. Are you satisfied with that performance?” said Nunnelee.
Nunnelee stated the core question of the last three weeks of the campaign: “Are you really better off than you were two years, 22,000 lost jobs, and $800 billion ago?”
Congressman Childers resorted to the same false attacks that newspapers around the state have called “misleading”, “unfair”, “simply not true”, “lame”, “lies”, and a “misjudgment”.
“My opponent is desperately resorting to political attacks because he can’t defend his own record of voting for Nancy Pelosi, voting for the failed $800 billion stimulus and voting 14 times to raise taxes by over $654 billion. Those votes cost us jobs, specifically 22,000 jobs here in North Mississippi,” added Nunnelee.
