In the latest in a round of legal jabs between his office and Entergy Mississippi, state Attorney General Jim Hood has filed suit asking a Hinds County chancery judge to make the company release documents about how it buys fuel and electricity.
Hood contends Entergy Mississippi buys fuel and power from other Entergy subsidiaries at a higher price than it could on the open market then passes those costs along to customers.
Entergy spokeswoman Mara Hartmann denied Hood’s assertions.
“As we’ve long said, Entergy has a sophisticated and time-tested system for purchasing fuel and electricity. It’s audited by a number of regulatory agencies … and they’ve been fine with it. We’ll ultimately prevail on our customers’ behalf,” she said.
