Media Days Rewind… and Poison! – SEC
Every summer, I look forward to SEC Media Days. When the college baseball season ends, and even when I head out on vacation, this event is always somewhere in my mind. Not only is it the next big thing to cover, it also means football is pretty much here. And now, it’s all over.
Poison!How was it?
Pretty interesting, I think. As interesting as the Poison concert I went to last night at the Verizon Wireless Music Center? Maybe not. Let’s be honest, it’s tough to beat Bret Michaels coming out for an encore of Nothin’ But A Good Time.
Even The Banktress was rocking out, though perhaps not as much as myself. And, the concert ended with a rendition of Sweet Home Alabama, allowing me to watch a guy in a Brandon Cox jersey singing, “Roll Tide Roll” during the chorus. That was funny.
Anyway, Media Days…How about a little rewind? For big events, The Birmingham News likes to do a feature called Best/Worst, where — you guessed it — we detail the best and worst of what went on.
Let’s take a look at the week that was that way:
Best Cameo: The Heisman Trophy. I don’t care that Tim Tebow didn’t bring it. It’s still fairly cool to have a replica chillin’ in the lobby of the Wynfrey. But what I loved more than anything was the random people sneaking up to the second floor and taking their picture with the trophy. Or even regular media members doing it. Yes, I’m sure your friends will believe you won it when they see a pic of you hugging the trophy.
