Campus lures NFL coaches back
In many ways, it’s probably just as tough coaching football in the Southeastern Conference as it is in the National Football League.
But though college head coaches face a different set of problems than NFL bosses, there’s a reason the NFL also stands for the No Fun League. There’s no rah-rah in the pros, and silly as that sounds, it’s one reason why there are now four former NFL head coaches guiding SEC teams.
New Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino, who spent almost an entire awful season with the Atlanta Falcons a year ago, is glad he spent the spring back on a college campus.
He joins three other former NFL head coaches in the SEC: South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier (Washington Redskins), Kentucky’s Rich Brooks (St. Louis Rams) and Alabama’s Nick Saban (Miami Dolphins). All three were college head coaches before trying the NFL.
