NOLA.com Spring Top 25-College Football
In 2007, chaos was the name of the game in college football. Teams shuffled their way in and out of the top five all year, and only at the very end of the season, when LSU prevailed over an over-matched Ohio State squad, did we achieve any sense of normalcy.
That doesn’t figure to be the case in 2008.

The teams at the top of the rankings are loaded, experienced and also talented at the most important position (quarterback), meaning we can expect to see a bit more stability at the top this fall.
But how will the rest of the rankings shake out? Thankfully, they should be as tumultuous as ever. Here’s NOLA.com’s early crack at a Top 25, which is sure to change a great deal over the coming fall.

1. OHIO STATE (11-2)
’07 Final rank: No. 4.
Latest result: Lost to LSU 38-24 in BCS Championship.
Gladow’s take: The Buckeyes return 18 starters, and if they weren’t fresh off back-to-back national championship blowout losses, they’d be definitive favorites for ’08. They’re still good enough to rank No. 1 here.

2. GEORGIA (11-2)
’07 Final rank: No. 2.
Latest result: Defeated Hawaii 41-10 in Sugar Bowl.
Gladow’s take: The presence of Knowshon Moreno and Matthew Stafford alone gives the Dawgs plenty of bite, but with the main nucleus back for a team that won its final seven games in ’07, expect Georgia to be a juggernaut.
