FEMA will continue to pay for the programs, but administration of rental assistance for those displaced by hurricanes Katrina and Rita will shift to HUD, which can help residents move to long-term housing, said HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson.
“That’s what we do at HUD – long-term housing,” Jackson said. “We believe that this is the best approach we can take.”
