Lott Opens Bid for Secretary of State

Lott, a two-term lawmaker from Petal, is one of four Republican candidates in the race to succeed current Secretary of State Eric Clark, who is not seeking re-election.

Lott said he chose Tupelo because of its “we can do it” attitude.

“It is a privilege to be doing this in Tupelo and to have the mayor’s endorsement,” said Lott. “My first time coming to Tupelo was five weeks ago and I discovered that it was a progressive city. The we can do it’ attitude has brought the Toyota plant to this area and many other good things.”

Tupelo Mayor Ed Neelly said he is confident Lott can do a good job as secretary of state.
