Ole Miss club helps Mississippi bring home gold at USA Games
The Ole Miss Special Olympics College Club made up the team, which included Mississippi Special Olympics athletes, individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ole Miss students without intellectual disabilities served as partners who play and train alongside the athletes.

NCAA panel approves new eligibility rules giving Division I athletes 5 years to play 5 seasons
It eliminates waivers for extended eligibility except for pregnancy, religious missions or active-duty military service. No longer will extensions be considered for athletes who are injured.

College sports bill clears key Senate hurdle despite SEC, Big Ten opposition
While President Donald Trump has backed the bill, multiple Republicans opposed the legislation Thursday, while several Democrat supported it. Some of the senators who voted against the bill represent states that are home to prominent SEC and Big Ten programs, including Michigan Sen. Gary Peters, a Democrat, and Republican Sens. Todd Young of Indiana and Roger Wicker of Mississippi.

Amarr Knox, Shawn Fulcher, Corey Hines and Tony Madlock were alleged to have engaged in game manipulation when Alabama State played at Southern Mississippi on Dec. 5, 2024. Southern Miss was a six-point favorite and won 81-64.

The Senators trying to fix college sports will introduce a bipartisan bill designed to break a Congressional logjam that would regulate payments to players, limit them to one “free” transfer over their careers and create a “Lane Kiffin Rule” to restrict coach movement during the season.
