SN: How intense is the pressure to win in this league?
Spurrier: Everybody is expected to win, and if you’re not winning, what the fans want to see is change. They’ve got to see change. Even if change doesn’t bring wins, you’ve got to hope something different is going to happen. And that’s the nature of sports. If it’s not going very well, you have to get a new coach in there—no matter what he did maybe five, six years ago. I remember seeing Larry Brown one time, and I told him, “You’re the smartest guy I’ve ever seen. You go somewhere and take a bad team and get it up at the top or near the top.” And he doesn’t stay there too much longer after he gets to the top.
