Kids commit to people, not places

If you haven’t heard of Demont Buice, chances are you will.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound running back from Etowah County’s Class 1A Gaston High was offered a scholarship by Florida as a sophomore, according to his coach. Ole Miss followed shortly after that.
As Buice, now a junior, wraps up this season, he’s being courted also by Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and Florida State, among others. And he still has another year of high school to go.
What is he looking for in a college program?
“Coaching is important to me,” Buice said. “That’s the big key factor … what kind of vibe I get from the coaches.”

Obvious? To you and me, perhaps. But listen closely to what Buice is saying: The coaching staff will determine his decision.
