Ole Miss held to 17 by Vandy again
OXFORD – The Ole Miss Rebels found out Saturday for the second straight year that 17 points was not good enough to beat the Vanderbilt Commodores.
After losing a 31-17 decision in Nashville to the Commodores last season, Ole Miss was held to that same point total Saturday night in a 23-17 loss in front of 51,281 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Six turnovers for the Rebels (four interceptions and two lost fumbles) prevented the them from eclipsing 17 points.
“We felt like we had the better team to win the game, but they were prepared for us,” Ole Miss wide receiver and kick returner Mike Wallace said. “We respect them for winning the game, but we feel like we lost the game ourselves.”
In 2006, the Rebels made 17 points stand up in a 17-10 victory in Oxford.
