So here we are again, standing at the corner of excitement and exultation as another college football season arrives.
It is our own little holiday here in the Deep South – a time when the pseudo football seasons of recruiting and spring drills give way to the real thing.
It’s time to start making those plans for football Saturdays, for the pilgrammages to Auburn or Tuscaloosa or other venues across the South.
Or for those more convenient pilgrammages to the sofa and the big-screen TV, preceded only by quick (and multiple) pilgrammages to the refrigerator.
The first SEC team to start fall practice is Vanderbilt on Thursday. Alabama hits the field Friday, Auburn on Saturday. And the first games of the SEC season are just 33 days away.
So, what about this adventure upon which we are about to embark?
Well, here are 10 questions about the upcoming season to get you thinking:
1. Can Florida quarterback Tim Tebow repeat as the Heisman Trophy winner?
A better question: Who cares? Sure, Tebow made history last year by becoming the first sophomore to win the award, and the only back-to-back recipient was Ohio State’s Archie Griffin in 1974-75.
