Rebs rally in 2nd half, but can’t catch Buckeyes in NIT semifinals

Ole Miss made its basketball livelihood this season by pounding foes into submission with big bodies in the paint.

But on Tuesday night, it was only the Rebels who took a beating for most of the evening.

Falling flat early in the program’s first trip to Madison Square Garden in its 98-year history, Ole Miss lost 81-69 to Ohio State in the National Invitation Tournament semifinals.

By seven minutes into the game, the Rebels fell behind by double-digits and the debacle was in full effect. Under an avalanche of turnovers and errant shots, Ole Miss trailed 44-20 by halftime.

“We just got exposed,” said freshman Chris Warren. “We didn’t come to play and Ohio State knew what to do with us. It’s hard to explain how that just happened.”
