Wicker pushes Republicans to unite behind Trump
U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker of Tupelo, tasked with electing Republicans to the Senate, urged Neshoba County fairgoers Thursday to unite behind presidential candidate Donald Trump.
He told the largely Republican crowd at the historic political speakings that at the American Legion Post 49 where he eats breakfast every Wednesday when he is in town, members understand the choice is between Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Trump, and they support Trump.
“They are concerned about America’s standing in the world,” Wicker said in his speech under the tin-roofed Founders Square Pavilion. “Almost to a person, they are supporting Donald Trump for president.”
