House removes Rehabilitation Services from merger
JACKSON – The Mississippi House voted 112-1 on Tuesday to study whether to merge the Division of Medicaid and the Department of Human Services as a cost-savings measure.
House Appropriations Chair Herb Frierson, R-Poplarville, who offered the study committee proposal, did not include making the Department of Rehabilitation Services part of the study.
The House study proposal that was passed Tuesday was a change to the original Senate bill that merged Medicaid, Human Services and Rehabilitation Services.
