Mississippi Republicans turned out Tuesday for the 2016 presidential and congressional primary in greater numbers than previous such contests in the Magnolia State.
While totals are still incomplete and unofficial it appears 400,000 plus GOP voters cast their ballot.
This is in comparison to the voter turnout in previous Republican presidential primaries of 294,112 in 2012 and 143,286 in 2008.
Other recent Republican primaries have drawn approximately 275,000 in the 2015 statewide election and 319,000 in the hotly contest 2014 cycle.
