Mississippi Democrats’ low voter turnout shows lack of enthusiasm in state #MSPrimary

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 9, 2016

Unofficial totals show upwards of 220,000 Mississippi Democrats turned out for their presidential and congressional primary on Tuesday.

This is a far cry from the 434,152 who voted in 2008, President Barack Obama’s first run for the White House.

Democrats just last year in the statewide election were able to muster more enthusiasm and voter participation in that cycle than they were for this presidential primary.

Some 288,000 Democrats voted in Mississippi Democrat primary for Governor in 2015.
