Mississippi coast has 3 of state’s fastest growing cities, according to new census data

The Mississippi coast has three of the top 10 fastest growing cities in the state from 2012 to 2013, according to new U.S. Census population estimates released today.

Bay St. Louis is No. 3 on the list with 5.25 percent growth from July 2012 to July 2013, with a population of 10,822. From the 2010 census count through the 2013 estimate, Bay St. Louis has grown 16.9 percent.

D’Iberville is No. 5 with 4.2 percent growth and population of 10,390, while Pass Christian is No. 8 with 3.55 percent growth and a population of 5,128. Since 2010, Pass Christian’s population is up 11.2 percent while D’Iberville is up 9.5 percent…

…So what’s the fastest growing area in Mississippi?

That would be the town of Duck Hill in Montgomery County, up 13.5 percent to 972. No. 2 is the town of Walnut Grove in Leake County, up 13.1 percent to 1,983.
