Candidate: Senate race an opportunity for diversity
The only “race” that candidate Mike Smith cares about is the District 19 State Senate race.
Although he is bidding to become DeSoto County’s first African American state senator, Smith is downplaying that particular facet of the contest.
Smith is seeking to fill the seat of State Sen. Merle Flowers, R-Olive Branch.
