Hosemann: Mississippians owed money face deadline to file

Many have not filed claims for Morgan Keegan settlement

BILOXI — Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says about 1,600 Mississippians stand to lose up to thousands of dollars each they’re owed by Morgan Keegan unless they file claims by a June 16 deadline.

“There have been three letters sent,” Hosemann said. “We’ve set up phone banks and been trying to call people, but for a lot of people we haven’t been able to get a current number — they’ve either moved or switched to cell phones … Apparently some haven’t understood the forms. The forms are about five or six pages, but most of that’s if you dispute it. If you don’t, you just sign your name to the form.
