Analysis: Nice guy or aggressive? Dems have choice
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — It’s election season in Mississippi, and mailboxes are overflowing with postcards from competing candidates who call each other everything but a Humble Friend of Jesus.
The radio is full of political ads, some snarkier than others. Folks can’t even turn on the TV without back-to-back commercials from candidates saying why they should be the next governor, state senator or county supervisor and why their opponent shouldn’t.
Voters’ exasperation is real, and it’s beyond cliché for people to say they just want to see candidates run positive campaigns that focus on ideas without lambasting opponents.
