Farish St. district back on the shelf
The highly anticipated, often delayed Farish Street Entertainment District is on the shelf again, and the city is considering reopening the street that has been closed to traffic for months.
While pitching reauthorization of the Jackson Business Improvement District, Downtown Jackson Partners president Ben Allen told the City Council on Tuesday that the project has been halted – this time because its developer needs more money.
That was precipitated by the Legislature’s denial of a $5 million loan to developer David Watkins in this year’s session, Allen said.
