Why More Republican Held Seats Aren’t In Play
In my first edition of the top ten most competitive House races for 2011, I had nine Democrats and one Republican on that list. And at this point, there just isn’t much room for the Democratic Party to grow. I used the word defense to describe the Democrats 2011 playbook and wanted to reiterate that. There goal is to hold enough seats so that Billy McCoy or another choice from the Democratic caucus can be elected Speaker next January.
When looking at competitive races, I look at how Haley Barbour performed in the district, black voting-age-population, what the vote total was for the incumbent in the last race, and if they have any announced opposition yet.
