House Democrats Go On The Record In Support Of Obamacare
The State House took a couple interesting votes at the end of this week with regard to the mandates in the new healthcare legislation and the Tenth Amendment. Posting on his blog, Rep. Greg Snowden (R-Meridian) talked about HCR 101 and HCR 73.
HCR 101 was introduced by Rep. Alex Monsour (R-Vicksburg) along with 47 co-sponsors. It would amend the state Constitution to prohibit mandatory participation in any healthcare plan. As we have talked about on many occasions, the individual mandate is a central feature of healthcare reform. Snowden called this a vote “either for or against Obamacare.” The Democrats prevailed and it was defeated by a vote of 63 to 55.
Majority in Miss.
