Court denies appeal to fund smoking prevention program

The Mississippi Supreme Court has rejected an appeal that would have continued funding a tobacco prevention and cessation program co-founded by former state Attorney General Mike Moore.

Justices voted 6-1 to uphold a lower court’s ruling that ended annual payments for The Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi. The decision means the Partnership will likely dissolve by the end of the year.
