Georgia, TCU set to meet in College Football National Championship Game

By: Frank Corder - January 9, 2023

At least two players in tonight’s matchup have Mississippi ties.

The College Football National Championship game is tonight – Monday, January 9th.

It features the No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs (14-0) versus the No. 3 ranked TCU Horned Frogs (13-1).

The game is being played at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

TCU has never beaten Georgia in the four times the two have faced off on the gridiron prior to tonight’s contest.

Mississippi has at least two connections to tonight’s game.

Stetson Bennett, the Georgia quarterback, is a product of Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, Mississippi. He is the first quarterback to lead his team to back-to-back national championship games in a decade.

On the TCU side of the ball, former Mississippi State tight end Geor’Quarius Spivey could see action for the Horned Frogs.

TCU is the first time to play for a national championship when beginning the season unranked.

Oddsmakers favor Georgia in tonight’s matchup but TCU has proven that they will come to play to the very end.
