2020 State of the State set for Monday night

By: Sarah Ulmer - January 23, 2020

Governor Tate Reeves

Legislators and state officials will gather at the Mississippi State Capitol in a Joint Session on the floor of the House and Senate for the 2020 State of the State address given by Governor Tate Reeves. This will be Reeve’s first time to give the address.

In attendance will be First Lady Elee Reeves, dignitaries, and people from all across Mississippi who will join together to hear Governor Reeves’ plan for the state. On Thursday, the House rules committee approved HC 3 which would allow for the Joint Session to take place on the determined date.

This year, provisions have been made that if the weather is good the speech will take place on the South Steps of the Capitol. In the event of inclement weather, it will take place as usual in the chamber of the House of Representatives at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27.

The full address will be available through MPB Online streaming. You can access it by clicking the link HERE, or checking back to Y’all Politics where we will repost the feed.

Rep. Robert Johnson, leader of the Democratic Caucus is set to give a response after the address.
