Killing “deplorables” for sport? New Hollywood movie ponders elites “hunting” red staters

By: Magnolia Tribune - August 10, 2019

Universal Pictures is coming under fire for a movie originally set for release that depicts working class red staters from states like Wyoming, Mississippi and Florida as hunted for sport by global elites.

Yesterday, President Trump took to Twitter to denounce the film, which features a country-tough protagonist from Mississippi, who was kidnapped and ultimately upends the “sport” depicted in the film leading a group of working class people to revolt against the game.

The Hollywood Reporter printed earlier this week that the original title for the film was “Red State vs. Blue State” and featured themes like ..

“Did anyone see what our ratfucker-in-chief just did?” one character asks early in the screenplay for The Hunt, a Universal Pictures thriller set to open Sept. 27. Another responds: “At least The Hunt’s coming up. Nothing better than going out to the Manor and slaughtering a dozen deplorables.”

“Deplorables” is of course what Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump supporters during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Universal has suspended promotion of the film and has tentatively pulled the release.  However, the trailers promoting the movie still remain in wide release.
