Governor Phil Bryant On Budget Cuts
Governor Phil Bryant doesn’t expect the cuts to be as damaging as the great recession was in 2008, nor does he predict any future job layoffs.
“My job is to make sure we have a good balanced budget in the state of Mississippi, and if it takes those cuts to do it, I’m going to exercise that authority,” said Republican Governor Phil Bryant.
Currently, revenue is about 1 percent below the projections used for the current year’s budget. The current fiscal year will end in June.
