Madison board attorney refutes Mayor’s corruption allegations
Madison County Board of Supervisors attorney Mike Espy addressed allegations of corruption by the Madison mayor Monday.
During Monday morning’s board of supervisors meeting, Espy gave a presentation where he refuted claims made by Madison Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler’s claims during her state of the city address two weeks ago…
…”When you become a public official, you become a target,” he said. Espy noted that Warnock received the “brunt” of Butler’s allegations but said he too, was a public official, even though he was not elected.
Espy then played a YouTube video of Butler’s address Monday and went through, point by point, arguing she “has no proof” to back up her claims.
