Two Meridian Civil Service Commissioners Resign
Meridian, Miss. Meridian Mayor Percy Bland confirms that two Civil Service commissioners have resigned, leaving only three commissioners.
Mayor Bland tells Newscenter 11 he became aware of the resignations of John House and Robert Stockton late Thursday. The resignations come two days after the appointment of a new Civil Service secretary, Annie Collins. Commissioners Stockton and House were two of the four commissioners the mayor attempted to remove from office back in February of this year. After an Attorney General’s opinion, hearings were conducted in April, and both men kept their jobs.
