The McDaniel Hostage Crisis – Day 9 – The conference call and Evers interview #mchostage #mssen

By: Magnolia Tribune - July 3, 2014

We interrupt our regular coverage for a special report.

Deep inside a bunker inside the Free State of Jones, a fundamentalist separatist group has declared a jihad on decency and has taken the MS Republican Party hostage. They wave the Tea party flag and the war is playing out on twitter and throughout the national media. This story is moving so rapidly that Y’allPolitics will stay with this story every day until the hostages are unconditionally returned and the separatists give themselves up to justice. On twitter, tag any sort of militant #mssen activity with the hashtag #mchostage.

Yesterday, the Thad Cochran campaign called for a press conference to address moving forward with the nomination toward the November general runoff with Travis Childers and to address some of the disturbing allegations coming from the McDaniel camp and others.

To start, blogger and lead terrorist Chas. Johnson posted a tweet that invited folks to “crash” the concall designated for national media.

Then all hell broke loose (fireworks start at about the 7:00 mark) where a group of McDaniel supporters beclowned themselves.

From the call

“I will give everybody a chance to answer a question when we get through, and we’ll be happy to answer any question from members of the media,” Barbour said.

The unidentified caller again interrupted: “I’d like to know if the black people were harvesting cotton, why do you think it’s OK to harvest their votes? They’re not animals, why’re you treating black people like they’re just votes?”

Barbour replied that he would be “happy to address any question, no matter the lunacy of it,” and was again cut off by the caller, who said his question wasn’t “lunacy.”

“Why did you use black people? Why did you use black people to get Cochran elected when they’re not even Republicans, and you’re treating them as if they’re just idiots, that they’ll vote for Cochran just because they’re black?” he asked.

Later, just to spike the football in the end zone, Johnson declared a fatwa and tweeted Jordan Russell’s cell phone info.

Matthew Boyle at Breitbart (whose namesake continues to roll in his grave over what has happened on his masthead) incredulously listed the headline as Thad Cochran’s Campaign Hangs Up on Entire National Media.

Meanwhile, pundits with IQs above 90 at Politico, Roll Call, the Washington Post and The Hill all picked up on the story and the lunacy of it.

Late last night, WLBT photojournalist Mike Evans had the transcript from an interview taken a couple of days ago with Civil Rights icon Charles Evers, brother of Medgar Evers. This has gotten very little play to this point in the hostage crisis. Charles comments on both the alleged “Reverend” from Meridian paid for his story in the seemingly fading vote buying scandal and toward McDaniel himself.

David Kenney(WLBT):
What is your reaction to the latest in the Senate race and the African-American voters taking control of the vote?

Charles Evers:
We did(take control) and I want to…and that damn preacher over there in Meridian they ought to hang him. I don’t want to see any preacher, and I’m gonna be on there (his radio show) tonight, to take money for us. He’s a lie. And I’m gonna tell all these black preachers if I find out any of them have done it (take money), I’m going to expose them to the hilt.

No one can say that Charles Evers ever took a dime, and no one supports Thad Cochran more than I did. On radio, I went all over the state and I got all the black radio stations to support Thad Cochran. Nobody gave me a dime. Thad Cochran never offered me a quarter, never asked him for it. It’s the right thing to do. Thad Cochran was the best of two evils, and he has done so much for Mississippi, not for black folks, for Mississippi(as a whole).

Thad Cochran was the first ever Senator to take a black man to Washington as his Administrative Assistant: Nehemiah Flowers. And Thad saved the Jackson Medical Mall, and he got millions of dollars coming into Mississippi. And the money is coming to who? Mississippians. Look at the blacks and whites building highways. Look at the blacks and whites building all these Federal Buildings.

And this McDaniel boy? He’s sick. Young sick white boy. He’ll never turn nothing back (in time). Let me tell you right now, we’ll die and go to hell three times son (addressing camera) before you turn anything back, and you’ll never win nothing as long as I’m around here; as long as black folks can vote, and decent white folks. Put that in his pipe and smoke it.

And finally, the alleged “vote buying” scandal financed by Chas. Johnson seems to be losing steam. The self-styled Reverend Stevie Fielder has come under a great deal of fire, especially from those in his community. Usually scandals gain momentum in the first 48 hours or die. This one seems to be as much a fraud as most people suspected. It was not reported how much Johnson paid Fielder for the partial emails and interview, but somewhere, Fielder is laughing his ass off and counting his money.

Those were just the highlights from the McDaniel Hostage Crisis, Day 9. Make sure and tweet links we need to see at #mchostage.

Good day Mississippi . . . and good luck.
