Port’s executive director resigns
GULFPORT — After almost 11 years at the helm of the state port, Executive Director Don Allee resigned Friday morning as the port considers a course change on West Pier expansion and elevation.
Allee’s resignation is effective Nov. 2. Port Chief Operating Officer Matthew S. Wypyski will serve as acting port director until a new director is hired.
Allee said after a port commission meeting that the timing of his departure seems right. He said he is considering a couple of other opportunities in the maritime transportation business.
