In college football, dominance doesn’t do it for everyone

Dominance doesn’t do it for everyone
The USC defense is made up of four- and five-star recruits and is coordinated by one of the best from the NFL. Yet, they can’t seem to hit or tackle. What has gone wrong with USC’s defense?

There are a number of theories for why the defense, which is 90th overall, has struggled.
Depth is a problem – USC has 73 players on scholarship this season, and the limit is 85 – and the secondary was completely overhauled. Maybe that explains why the Trojans have allowed 15 TD passes and an average of 274.0 passing yards per game.
In addition, perhaps the adjustment period to the new coaching staff and system has taken longer than anticipated. The problem could be as simple as growing pains: four starters are sophomores and another is a freshman. The more players like sophomore MLB Devon Kennard play, the better they will be.
