Childers recently won a hard-fought election in our own Northern District One by staying as far away from his Democratic party as possible. He beat a Republican of limited campaigning ability.
Since the House vote to give the money to Detroit was so one-sided, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her legions will probably not hold it against Childers for voting like a
member of the GOP. It will look good on his resume next election day. It would be very interesting indeed to see how Childers would have voted if the decision had rested on one or two votes.
