Fisackerly: Never intended to disrespect MPSC
“I fully respect the members of the Mississippi Public Service Commission,” Fisackerly said in a Dec. 4 statement. “They provide an important service to the state, and I would never intentionally show any disrespect to them.
“My intent has never been to create any friction between the commission and the office of the attorney general, but to have our issues addressed in a formal hearing conducted by the regulatory agency with the knowledge, expertise and authority to address matters affecting our business.”
The legal wrangling and war of words between Entergy Mississippi, MPSC and Attorney General Jim Hood move up a level — or two — this week. Hood has alleged that Entergy Mississippi has bilked ratepayers by overcharging them through fuel adjustment costs. The attorney general has been seeking documents he claims will show the utility has been inflating customers’ rates. Entergy contends that it is highly regulated, has done nothing wrong, and that pulling together the information requested could take as long as a year and cost millions of dollars.
