Gallo Notes- “ I Pledge Alienation, To The Elected, To The United States Congress”

Gallo Notes- June 25, 2008

U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland has challenged all 435 members of the House to sign a pledge that reads “I will vote to increase U.S. oil production to lower gas prices for Americans.” Representative Westmoreland joined me on the air and won a lot of fans in the audience. Newt’s American Solution’s “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less” movement is gaining steam, but in the real “Hot Air” world of Washington, will it be noticed? One can only pump and hope.

That said, I have another idea that may be equally as effective. I know, I know. Everybody and their newly divorced spouse have ideas how to threaten the oil companies. I’ve seen just about every idea out there. Well, here’s one that might really….I mean..REALLY work. It may read as follows:

“I____________________ ,a legally registered voter, do hereby pledge with my gas pumping hand on my Bible that I promise to vote for your opponent regardless of Party affiliation in November, 2008 if gas is over $2.50 a gallon nationwide. This pledge is taken seriously and is irrevocable. PS-I’m mad as hell and I’m not taking it anymore!” Signed ____________________.

Since the Democrats would rather listen to Moe Bandy than vote for additional drilling in areas that even polar bears find uninhabitable, and since liberals have the most to lose in leadership, this could be powerful. After all, what do we have to lose?

By the way, if you want to sign on to the Westmoreland petition, it’s easy. Go to http://www.americansolutions.com/ and sign up. If you want a current listing of House members who have signed on, go to http://westmoreland.house.gov.
