State auditor candidate wants office to take proactive approach

By: Magnolia Tribune - October 4, 2007

The Hattiesburg American, 10/4/7

State auditor candidate Stacey Pickering said if he is elected in November, the office will take a proactive approach to dealing with local governmental entities.

“When you come at it (the job) from a management perspective, you create partnerships with local governments instead of playing gotcha politics,” Pickering said in a Wednesday interview with the Hattiesburg American Editorial Board.

He said that philosophy would apply from every level between providing additional training for school board members to avoid mismanagement of 16th Section land to performance audits of the Mississippi Development Authority to prevent another blunder like the failed beef processing plant approved by the Legislature.
