Though his platform has several emphases, including an embrace of state economic progress and harsher punishment for government corruption, Republican attorney general hopeful Al Hopkins said he hopes his background and years of experience within the justice system will largely speak for themselves.
He handled more than 4,000 cases with approximately 136,000 litigants, numbers current Attorney General Jim Hood can’t match, Hopkins said Tuesday during an editorial board meeting at The Dispatch.
“I’ve been chief counsel in mass tort litigation in five states,” he said. “I’ve written extensively on the law. I’ve lectured to attorneys many, many times on legal issues. I’ve been chosen to do that because I have the background and experience to handle that litigation. And attorneys come to me to teach them how to do it.”
