Ethics Commission appoints independent counsel for internal investigation

Lawyer to probe ethics breach

Former Mississippi Ethics Commission Chairman Walter Brown will investigate who leaked Gov. Haley Barbour’s personal financial documents to a national media outlet.

The Mississippi Ethics Commission voted Friday to appoint the Natchez lawyer to oversee the breach of state ethics laws.

“The integrity of the commission process is what’s at stake here,” Brown said.
