In perhaps the most watched legislative race in the state, House Speaker Billy McCoy, D-Rienzi, will face one opponent in the Aug. 7 Democratic primary.
The winner of that Democratic primary then will meet in the November general election the winner of a three-way Republican contest.
The race will be of such high interest because as speaker, McCoy is one of the most powerful politicians in the state.
