Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillin on Friday accused Jackson Mayor Frank Melton of trying to take political control of his department.
The claim came a day after the mayor told 16 WAPT he believes there’s rampant drug use among inmates at the Raymond Detention Center and that McMillin isn’t doing anything to stop it.
McMillin said Melton is floating the accusations to sway next month’s sheriff’s election.
