Mississippi’s Gulf Coast casinos are embracing restaurants branded by well-known chefs, golf courses designed by professional golfers and top-notch entertainment to develop a destination resort market independent of slots and table games.

Such nongaming activities helped propel Las Vegas’ gaming industry to its No. 1 spot and increase profits, according to analysts at the 14th annual Southern Gaming Summit in Biloxi, which has drawn more than 2,000 attendees in the largest gaming summit outside Las Vegas.
